Fruits of the Holy Spirit

A tree is identified from its fruits. St. Paul gives us the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Ga: 5 : 22

Though this references 9 Fruits of the Spirit, the original Greek term translated as "fruit" is singular, signifying that there is one fruit with nine attributes. Throughout the Bible, the righteous are likened to trees,[Prov. 11:30] and in Galatians 5 Paul explains what fruit a righteous tree bears. Accordingly, this "fruit" is grown by those who have truly repented and become followers of Jesus.

Above is the stained glass window at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, depicting the Fruit of the Holy Spirit along with role models representing them, i.e. the Good Shepherd representing love, an angel holding a scroll of Gloria in excelsis Deo representing joy and peace, Job representing longsuffering, Jonathan faith, Ruth gentleness and goodness, Moses meekness, and John the Baptist temperance. Executed by Hardman & Co. in the 1870s.

Bearing a fruit of the Holy Spirit is a blessing for us and for others. We may not naturally have them but we can always call unto our Holy Spirit within us who would guide us take the right decision.
Let us all start glowing up, showing our fruits.

  1. The fruit of the Holy Spirit, which has nine flavours, is an indication of a person being born again! It is the culture of the Kingdom people! Unless you are born again you cannot enter the Kingdom of God (Jn 3:3, 5)... As a baptised Christian, one should have all these nine flavours... A tree is known by its fruit... A Christian is known by the fruit of the Holy Spirit! (Ref Mt 3:10; 7:15-20; 12:33-37) It may not help to have the "gifts" of the Holy Spirit, without having the characteristics of a Kingdom person. The gifts are the powers of the Kingdom and when you don't bear the "fruit", how can you exercise the power? Hypocrisy is abominable to the Lord (Ref Mt 7:21-23)... Bear fruits worthy of repentance.. Mt 3:8... Amen. EMEL

  2. Love & Self control are the two fruits which will bring in a the other qualities of a person.. But without divine power one cannot bear these fruits always at all circumstances in our lives.. The more we pray the better is the stance against the storms in our life.. It is the Word which created it is the Word which holds you and me..Amen..Thank you Lord,,
