Blessings of the Lord

 Psalm 41:1-3New International Version (NIV)

1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;

the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.

2 The Lord protects and preserves them—

they are counted among the blessed in the land—

he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.

3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed

and restores them from their bed of illness

There are 8 blessings promised for us in the above verses.

Could you identify the same?

God's will for us

God gives us his will for us in 1 Thessalonians.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18New International Version (NIV)

He gives us 3 commandments. they are very straight forward and needs not much explanation.

1. Be Joyful all the time.

Not when things go our way alone, not when we get our heart desire, All the time

2. Pray continually

Not every Sunday in church alone, not 2 minutes in the morning, All the time

3. Give thanks in ALL circumstances.

Not only when we get the things we wanted. All the time.

For this is GOD's will for us....

How to become poor

As a father wants his children to be happy and prosperous, our heavenly father also wants us his children to be filled with joy and happiness, health and wealth.

He has has give us the BIBLE (Basic Instructions) for us to follow and have a happy life.

The Bible aso gives us ways to become poor.

Proverbs 21:17 He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

Proverbs 20:13 Do not love sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food.

Conversly do not do the above and you will not be poor

I am Extraordinary

Our office rates our performance and categorizes them into one of the following five;

Need Improvement (Start searching for a job) =  1 point
Satisfactory Performance (If you are marked 2 in a row, you are in trouble) = 2 points
Met Expectation = 3 points
Exceeded Expectation = 4 points
Extraordinary Performer = 5 points

I work in a challenging project and I usually get 4points. It is tough though to get 4 and I was happy with my rating. I acknowledge that it was God's grace and I thank him always. My desire and ambition was to get the impossible atleast once. I was desperate to do something extraordinary to get those five points. Doing more than you are asked for looks great but I didn't know what to do to exceed the exceeded expectations.

I enquired some architects and managers and they gave me a big list of things those were; work more hours, volunteer to work in 2 or 3 projects simultaneously, learn a new technology and provide training and some said all it needs is a little luck, work in a high revenue project or a critical project with higher visibility. I was almost dejected hearing all these workaholic techniques. I was contended with my current project and I did not want to bring in more stress on me, so I closed my dream and had a hope one day I would do something out of the box to the extraordinary.

We were getting ready for this year half yearly performance rating and when I looked back at my six months, there was nothing out of the box I did or cracked a difficult bug nor completed any tasks before time(Things i usually do). I was little scared that I may get 3points. I always pray to God to get me 4 and if possible help me do something extraordinary to get a 5 but this time, I said God you are a almighty God and I want you to get me a good rating. Amen.

When the ratings were published, I was so surprised, I couldn't believe, I got the extraordinary Five! I always presumed that I need to do something out of the box to get the top rating and God needs to help me to do something extraordinary but it was like the Almighty God was smiling down on me saying, you can get a 5 if I want you to have 5. I don't know whether I deserve Five points but His promise has come to pass in my life. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires Ps37:4.

I realized the mistake when I think of a solution that would get me my heart’s desire and ask God to do that for me and get disappointed when it fails. How stupid of me!!!

Season of Grace

Greetings and Peace of Jesus Christ be with you all!!

Lent - A long 40 days of abstinence from certain types of luxuries, fancy dresses, delicious foods and sweets is the common man’s thinking. St.Paul in his letter to the Romans says that our minds should be renewed. It is all about battling the “Evil” and the negativities in us in the Lent season. Now how to win this battle would be the question.

It is very simple, no matter what it is, ensure that you go for mass everyday. There is nothing better than taking part in the Mass and receiving the Holy Eucharist. We would remain holy because of one reason that we need to partake in the Eucharist. St.Paul writes “Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body of the Lord” 1Cor 11:27.

We would be tempted by Satan in many ways for his works are deceiving. In the Gospel of Matthew we see that Satan knowing that Jesus would be hungry after his forty days of fasting in the wilderness and by human nature his first urge would be is to eat so Satan offered the Lord to change the stones into bread.

Jesus was tempted all along his life. When he was on the cross to die for our sins the devil didn’t stop its act. The people jeered at him, mocked him, and asked him to save himself if he is the Son of God. Do you think it was not possible for Jesus to have come down and turn those mockers into stones??? But no he didn’t. He just carried out the will of his Father. The Devil will tempt us all along our way when are in this lent season carrying our crosses of sinfulness with Jesus to be crucified crushed and never for that evil to rise again and hold us.

We are chosen people set apart by God, we are his possession, and we are the apple of his eyes. The devil will try to pull us to his side, till the last moments in our life. “For if these things are done to the tree when it is green what will happen when it is dry? Lk23:31. We are grafted to the Jesus who is the vine, we are his branches. If a branch is cut from the vine the branch dies. In simple words without Jesus we can do nothing. Let us not be lost. Let us turn and look at Jesus. He lived a life for us, for us to follow, for us to look upon him when are tempted when are going through trials and tribulations. “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners” Mk 2:17.

Let us make this season of Lent a change over in our lives. It is by human nature we fall. Let us not drown in the sea of sin. The Lord is there stretching out his hand for us, all we need is to rise above all pressures of evil desires and hold on to His hand. Whenever we fall lets go 10-15 minutes earlier before the mass knock the door of our Priests kneel down and make a confession. The Lord does not overlook our efforts of being a new , renewed person and when he pours out his graces it will b a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and over flowing.

Let us live a life worthy of His calling. For Christ and for Christ alone!

More Than A Conqueror..

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:35-37)

We sometimes think victory comes from getting out of a difficult/impossible situation but Actually we are already "more than conquerors" even while in the middle of a impossible situation.

To be defeated, we would need to be separated from Christ's love for us.

God loves us unconditionally. There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you more ,There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you less

He set you free
So you could see
How much He loves you
Just take a look
It’s in His book
How much He loves you
His Word reveals
All that He feels
He spelled it out
Never a doubt

He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you
He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you
There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you more
There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you less
He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you

Once we were lost
Needing the cross
Needing a Savior
He came to earth
A humble birth
Born in a manger
His words were truth
His life was proof
He was God’s Son
Sent for each one

He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you
He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you
There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you more
There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you less
He loves you
Just because He loves you
Just because He loves you
                                                                                     -Don Moen

We should live with confidence that God loves us no matter what and he will never forsake us.When we are under too much pressure, when we are attacked, when we have a "lamb being taken to a slaughter" situation, when we think we may no longer see victory, the truth is "in all these things we are more than conquerors." Yes, in the middle of the problems in life, we are already victors spiritually.

Praise the lord.

Motto for the year 2014

This years Motto for us is

"Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free."                                                                                -Ephesians 6:7-8

In everything we do, let us do as done unto the lord and not to human beings, as God has promised to reward according to their deeds and our Lord is a covenant keeping God and will fulfill his promises. People can rob us off our efforts and they can take credit for our work. They can even go unnoticed among people. But our Lord God is watching us and he is keeping account of our good deeds and rest assured our rewards are on the way.

Praise the Lord
All Glory to God.

Have a wonderful year ahead

"Do Not Fear" - a command

The God Almighty says " Fear Not". How comfortable it is when you hear this even as you are in a troubled state. How much comfort and confidence it brings to our troubled hearts.
Bible researchers have found out that there are 366 references of "Do not Fear" in the Bible. One for everyday, accounting for the leap year too. My favorite one would be the one below.

More than the comforting theme of the sentence, we need to note that it is a COMMAND. God is commanding us not to be troubled. And if we do love God, we have to keep his commandments. Oh I know it is tough; but it is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit. Let us a pray to our comforter and counselor the Holy Spirit to help us not to fear and trust in God as He says,

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jer 29:11
