"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart; Do not rely on your own insight. " - Prov 3:5 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jer 29:11

False Prophets & Teachers - BEWARE!

2Cor 11:3 - But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by its cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you submit to it readily enough.

Satan only has to put a drop of poison in the stew to ruin the whole batch. He’s not going to pour in enough to alert you with a bad taste or smell.

Col 2:8 - See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ

Sound Biblical doctrine is a pure and precious thing that ought to be handled lovingly and with utmost care so that it is presented in a way that diminishes the speaker and glorifies the God of the Word.

1Timothy 1: 6-7 - Some people have deviated from these (verse 5) and turned to meaningless talk, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make assertions.

The reason we must be so vigilant over biblical doctrine is that those who depart from it, take simple people with them by pleasant, plausible speech that presents itself as a blessing. False teachers don’t get a following by being rough and harsh. They get a following by being nice.

1Timothy 4:1-2 - Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will renounce the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared with a hot iron.

Behind serious false teaching, we almost always find not merely intellectual mistakes, but worldly passions enslaving the mind.  Our age is filled with false prophets who deceive, as they hide their true motives of greed and fame. Will we seek the true gospel of sin, judgment, faith, and repentance and salvation ?

Beware! Satan is also "fisher of men" and his nets are full!

2Timothy 4:3-4 - For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths.

The false teacher will tell you that the way to heaven is simple.  There will be no talk about repentance and turning away from sin .  There will be no talk about taking up the cross, denying yourself, and persevering in a way of obedience to all the commands of Holy Scripture.

Beware of false teaching... it is more dangerous than ignorance!

2 John 1:9-11 - Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God; whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. DO NOT RECEIVE into the house or welcome anyone who comes to you and does not bring this teaching; for to welcome is to participate in the evil deeds of such a person.

The false prophet will promise the easy way to heaven, a way without commitment, without lifestyle changes and holiness of life.  No wonder they have many followers.

THE BEST LIE IS THAT WHICH LOOKS THE MOST LIKE THE TRUTH
Mathew 7: 15-16 - "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.

Since they are so clever in disguising who and what they really are, we might be tempted to give up and think that it would be impossible to detect them.  But you will notice that twice in this passage our Lord Jesus says, “you shall know them.”  In verse 16 he says, “you shall know them.”  Again in verse 20 he says, “you shall know them.”  Check their personal lives with Galatians 5: 22-26... AND Mathew Ch 5, 6, 7.

Mark the words... INWARDLY RAVENOUS..

THE TRUTH remains the truth, no matter how sweet the lie may taste!
Mathew 24: 24-25 - For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Take note, I have told you beforehand.

All of us need to be wary and watchful. A
preacher shouldn't preach just to make you feel good. He should preach the truth because the truth shall set you free.

Remember, Jesus started His ministry with the words - - -  "repent, and believe in the good news" (Mk 1:15b) FIRST, REPENT!  Read Mt 3:8 and 10.

Let us put our creed into deed. Read Mt 7: 13-1

Jeremiah 5: 30-31 - An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule as the prophets direct; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?

Certainly the things of this world are not the best things; and we are not to think, that, because evil men prosper, God approves their practices. Though sentence against evil works is not executed speedily, it will be executed... the certainty and the necessity of God's judgments are well explained in the Bible. Let those who walk in error consider that an end will come, and there will be bitterness in the latter end.

False prophets are like soap bubbles, they pop out when the sun shines brightly.

You can´t buy it. You can´t make it. And you sure can´t fake it.

Jeremiah 14: 14 - And the LORD said to me: The prophets are prophesying lies in my name; I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.

It is a wicked thing to tell lies; it is more so to foretell them, and that too in the name of the Lord; pretending they have his authority, and are under the influence and guidance of His Spirit; and it was sinful of the people to give credit to them... and all the more because they were forewarned of these prophets and their lies.

False prophets are like autumn leaves, they're scattered everywhere and they only make a hustle and a bustle.

Jeremiah 23: 16-17 - Thus says the LORD of hosts: Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you; they are deluding you. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD. They keep saying to those who despise the word of the LORD, "It shall be well with you"; and to all who stubbornly follow their own stubborn hearts, they say, "No calamity shall come upon you."

People are under no religious obligation to hear what is contrary to the revealed will of God...  they deceive you, or they make you trust and undertake vain things... God's will is revealed in His Word.

2Cor 11: 14-15 - And no wonder! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his ministers also DISGUISE themselves as ministers of righteousness. Their end will match their deeds.

We are not to expect that Satan will appear to man to be as bad as he is. He never shows himself openly to be abominable in his character; or full of evil and hateful. He would thus defeat himself... he has to be deceptive through signs and wonders..

Even wolves may smile; and fools will be led by promises to their deaths.

Ephesians 4:14 - We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.

The metaphor is of a ship drifting at the mercy of a storm, tossed by the waves, and carried around from time to time by every blast. Do not be weak in the faith, or unstable in judgment... like those who do not rest themselves upon the word of God, but are tossed here and there with different doctrines as it were with contrary winds... and in addition, we are forewarned that it comes not only with the unsteadiness of man, but also by the craftiness of the false teachers...

To win the people, they always cook some savoury that pleases them.

Rom 16: 17-18 - I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep an eye on those who cause dissensions and offenses, in opposition to the teaching that you have learned; avoid them (AVOID THEM). For such people do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.

How earnest, how endearing are these exhortations! Whatever differs from the sound doctrine of the Scriptures, opens a door to divisions and offences. If truth be forsaken, unity and peace will not last long. Many call Christ, Master and Lord, who are far from serving him faithfully. But they serve their own carnal, sensual, worldly interests.

Here is a precept with respect to false innovators and church dividers -- AVOID THEM.

Jeremiah 23: 21-22  -  I did not send the prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and THEY WOULD HAVE TURNED THEM FROM THEIR EVIL WAY, and from the evil of their doings.

To turn people away from their evil lifestyle was the design of all God’s messages by his prophets and teachers, and therefore all true prophets made this their principal aim.

On the contrary, ignoring people's worldly lifestyle and not correcting their sinful courses, or  their state of carnal security, are often the marks of false prophets. They made haste to tell the people what the Lord had never said to them, but told them the warm imaginations of their own heads and hearts.

False teachers corrupt the head by deceiving the heart.

Lamentations 2:14 Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen oracles for you that are false and misleading.

They did not tell them of their sins; they took no pains to convince them of the sins... instead of reproving them for them, they soothed them; they did not "remove" the covering that was "over their iniquity",  which they might easily have done.. whereby they might have been brought to repentance for them.

The world promises you so much...and leaves you empty. God's promises are for real and forever.
